Artist Spotlight: Bona Vista
A local program from Bona Vista applied and we were blown away with how it turned out. They created the theme for the month and the art.
I never knew the word witness could hold such power.
The artists in our Day Service program at DSi create individual and collaborative works of art. The art featured on this shirt was created by a group of adults in our program by working together. As they collaborated, compromised, and worked as a team, they each experienced a chance to offer input and listen to the input of their group. Soon, the beauty of what they created together began to emerge. Working collaboratively invites us to trust each other as we learn to “trust the process” of making intuitive art.
This collage piece, inspired by the theme “Witness” imagines the Witness observing the world around them with clarity and deep knowing. Their gaze is steady and unwavering in its outward focus and is balanced by the depth of their inner wisdom and intuition. Witness plays with the idea of the word “information” - a word that can be used to describe the outside words, images, and media that we take in to keep us “informed “ but originally meant “to be formed from within". For the Witness, there is a tension between what she observes and what she perceives and comes to understand based upon her own experience.
We will be able to donate the money we would normally pay the artist to this amazing program!
